Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 packet of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup of warm water
  • 1/2 cup of warm milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Oil for frying
  • Toppings of your choice (such as cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, Nutella, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve the yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, eggs, and melted butter. Gradually add the yeast mixture and wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough: Punch down the dough and divide it into small portions. Roll each portion into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Fry the BeaverTails: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375°F. Carefully fry each BeaverTail for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Add toppings: While still warm, sprinkle your desired toppings on the BeaverTails, such as cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, Nutella, or any other toppings of your choice.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Serve the BeaverTails warm and enjoy them as a delicious pastry treat!
