Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup of warm water
- 1/2 cup of warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup of melted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- Oil for frying
- Toppings of your choice (such as cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, Nutella, etc.)
Instructions:
- Dissolve the yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, eggs, and melted butter. Gradually add the yeast mixture and wet ingredients to the flour mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough: Punch down the dough and divide it into small portions. Roll each portion into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
- Fry the BeaverTails: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 375°F. Carefully fry each BeaverTail for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Add toppings: While still warm, sprinkle your desired toppings on the BeaverTails, such as cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, Nutella, or any other toppings of your choice.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve the BeaverTails warm and enjoy them as a delicious pastry treat!
