Ingredients:
- 1 lb of mixed mushrooms (such as shiitake, cremini, and oyster), sliced
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Saute the mushrooms: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Make the cream mixture: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over low heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it is melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Assemble the gratin: In a baking dish, layer the sautéed mushrooms. Pour the cream mixture over the mushrooms. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly on top, followed by the fresh thyme leaves.
- Bake: Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Serve: Let the mushroom gratin cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as a side dish or a delicious appetizer!
