Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of mixed mushrooms (such as shiitake, cremini, and oyster), sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Saute the mushrooms: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Make the cream mixture: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over low heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it is melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble the gratin: In a baking dish, layer the sautéed mushrooms. Pour the cream mixture over the mushrooms. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly on top, followed by the fresh thyme leaves.
  5. Bake: Bake the gratin in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Let the mushroom gratin cool slightly before serving. Enjoy as a side dish or a delicious appetizer!
