Apple Pilaf with Basil Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of Basmati rice
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup of fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 cups of vegetable broth

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add the diced apples and cook until slightly softened.
  3. Stir in the turmeric, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the Basmati rice and cook for a few minutes until lightly toasted.
  5. Pour in the vegetable broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked through.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and stir in the chopped basil leaves.
