Ingredients:
- 8 cups of beef broth
- 1 lb of beef brisket, sliced thinly
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2-inch piece of ginger, sliced
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 star anise
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 8 oz rice noodles
- Bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime wedges, and jalapenos for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the Beef Broth: In a large pot, combine the beef broth, onion, garlic, ginger, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, fish sauce, and sugar. Bring to a boil and then simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Cook the Beef: While the broth is simmering, cook the sliced beef brisket in a separate pot until browned. Add the cooked beef to the broth.
- Cook the Noodles: Cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water.
- Assemble the Pho: Divide the cooked noodles among serving bowls. Ladle the hot beef broth and beef slices over the noodles.
- Garnish: Serve the Pho with bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime wedges, and sliced jalapenos on the side for garnish.
