Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs of ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 2 tbsp of tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 4 tbsp of butter
  • 1/2 cup of grated cheese (Gruyere or Parmesan)

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery and cook for another 5 minutes.

  2. Stir in the beef broth, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. Meanwhile, boil the potatoes in a pot of water until tender. Drain and mash with milk and butter until smooth.

  4. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  5. In a baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly on the bottom. Top with the mashed potatoes and sprinkle the grated cheese on top.

  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  7. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious Hachis Parmentier!
